Seedream 5.0 Flash vs Seedream 5.0 Lite

Seedream 5.0 Flash and 5.0 Lite are the two budget tiers under Seedream 5.0 Pro. Both ran the same twelve prompts through fal: Lite in September at 2K, the smallest size its endpoint allows, and Flash on 22 October at about 1K.

Which to use

Flash for layouts, edits and speed; Lite when numbers must be right. Flash set a finished, full-page poster where Lite left most of the sheet empty, placed all five objects in the composition test where Lite miscounted the ice, and made a clean edit where Lite turned the brass handle into a small ring. It answered in about 15 seconds against Lite's 36, at $0.027 an image against $0.035, read on 22 October and 9 September 2026. Lite wins two prompts that matter: it labelled every chart value correctly, where Flash printed 150 for March and 'Ap0' for April, and it drew a believable dripper where Flash drew a slotted bowl. One run per prompt is a fair first look, not a ranking.

The same 12 prompts, Seedream 5.0 Flash against Seedream 5.0 Lite

One try each, nothing re-rolled or retouched, generated by us. Seedream 5.0 Flash is on the left, Seedream 5.0 Lite on the right. Every prompt has its own page with the whole roster.

Both spelled all three lines. Lite's sit in the top fifth of an empty navy sheet; Flash's fill the page with two-colour letterpress type and a drawing of the venue.

Frequently asked questions

Is Seedream 5.0 Flash better than 5.0 Lite?

On our twelve prompts it was better at layout, composition and editing, and faster. Lite was better at the chart and the product shot. Neither is the tier for text that must be exact; that is Seedream 5.0 Pro.

Which is cheaper?

Flash, at $0.027 an image on fal against $0.035 for Lite. Lite's endpoint also insists on 2K or larger, so its files are bigger.

Were both run the same way?

Same prompts, one attempt each, through fal. Lite ran in September at 2K, its minimum; Flash on 22 October at about 1K, our standard sizes.
