We gave Voyager and plain Claude Code the same eight video briefs, with the same model behind both, and both built their videos with Remotion, a framework for making videos in React. Voyager got each brief as written and chose Remotion on its own. Claude Code got the same brief plus one sentence: "Use Remotion."
Each brief below shows the prompt both agents received and two videos, A and B. Which side is which is shuffled separately for every visitor. Pick the video that answers the brief better, and once you have picked all eight, reveal the answers to see how often you chose Voyager.
The clips play silently, are scaled to 720p and load only when you press play.

What differs between the pairs
With both sides in Remotion, the difference is not the tool but what each agent did with it. Watching the pairs side by side, Voyager's videos tend to change the picture more often and give each beat its own treatment, while Claude Code's tend to set up one layout and change the words inside it:
- Kinetic typography. Voyager's video gives most lines their own layout, mixes an italic serif with a heavy sans and adds small diagrams: a week grid filling with blocks, and an orbit of the apps Pulse syncs with. Claude Code's sets each line in one typeface on a flat colour field.
- Vertical social promo. Voyager's changes background and type style for each of its three text beats, with latte art pouring into the cup. Claude Code's keeps the same beige layout, cup icon and caption pill and swaps the words.
- Testimonial carousel. Voyager's opens on a title card, highlights a phrase in each quote as it appears and ends with all three cards together. Claude Code's types each quote into the same dark card.
- Animated bar chart. Both re-sort the bars as the years advance and annotate the change. Voyager's keeps most bars neutral and colours only Payments and Hardware, the two categories its headline names. Claude Code's gives every category its own colour.
- Product launch, logo sting, lower third and channel intro. These pairs are the closest. Both launch videos open on a "doing your books by hand?" hook, show the app's screens and end on the logo. Both lower thirds are a dark name card with an orange accent, both logo stings build the mark and then the wordmark, and both channel intros open on a terminal prompt and resolve to a glowing BUILD MODE title.
How the test was run
- The same model. Both sides ran Claude Opus 5.5 (
claude-opus-5-5) at medium effort through Claude Code. - What "Voyager" means here. Voyager's agent setup: its system instructions, its skills and the
voyagercommand-line tool, with its default creative preferences, which name Remotion. It made its own choices instead of asking questions. - What "plain Claude Code" means here. Claude Code with its default tools and nothing added: no Voyager skills, no extra instructions and no
voyagertool. - The same base prompt. Each brief is shown in the quiz exactly as sent. Both sides also received "Render the final video to a file in this folder and tell me its path." The Claude Code side alone had "Use Remotion." added after that. Files a prompt names (the chart data, the logo and the quotes) were copied into both project folders.
- Both used Remotion. Every Claude Code project lists Remotion in its
package.jsonand rendered withremotion render, and every Voyager project was a Remotion project too. - A fresh, empty project folder for every run. Voyager's videos come from an earlier run of the same briefs, made before the Claude Code run.
- No paid media. No keys for music, voice or video generation services were set on either side, so every frame and sound was made on the machine.
- Shown silent. The quiz plays every clip without sound. Seven of Voyager's eight videos have a sound track and none of Claude Code's do, so sound would give the answer away.
Frequently asked questions
Is Voyager better than Claude Code for making videos? Take the quiz and judge for yourself. With the same model and both sides building in Remotion, any difference you see comes from the agent setup: Voyager's instructions, skills and command-line tool.
Does Voyager use Claude? In this test, yes. Both sides ran the same Claude model through Claude Code. What Voyager added was its instructions, its skills and the voyager command-line tool, so the comparison isolates the agent setup rather than the model.
Did both agents use Remotion? Yes. Voyager chose it without being asked, because its default preferences name it. Claude Code was told "Use Remotion." in the prompt. To set up Claude Code with Remotion yourself, start with Remotion's Agent Skills.
Why is the quiz silent? Seven of Voyager's videos had a sound track and none of Claude Code's did. With sound, the answer would be obvious from the first second, so the quiz compares the pictures only.
