Kandinsky 6.0 Pro vs Kandinsky 6.0 Lite

Both MIT-licensed Kandinsky 6.0 models ran the same nine prompts on fal on 22 October 2026, submitted together, at their native 480p and five seconds, default steps (50 for Pro, 10 for Lite), audio on and no upscaling. Queue time is included in the recorded waits.

Which to use

On fal, Pro is the one that does what you ask. All nine of its clips follow their prompts, and its image-to-video keeps our dripper exactly while a second dripper drips coffee into it. Lite returned three clips that have nothing to do with their prompts: a fox reading a newspaper for the title card, a jug on a turntable for the market, and a fox bursting out of our dripper for image-to-video. Where both followed the prompt the clips are close: a natural speaking woman, a steady harbour aerial, a pour from a kettle that is somehow already full of coffee, and a flat-colour lighthouse print under a calm sky. Neither can spell the title or keep the turntable dripper a dripper. The cost is steep: $1.35 a clip against $0.16, and 14 to 26 minutes a clip against 3 to 13. Under MIT, both are free to run yourself, which is the stronger case for either. One run per prompt is a first look, not a ranking.

Kandinsky 6.0 Lite649s · $0.16
›What we asked for

A woman in her 40s with short grey hair stands in a bright kitchen, looks at the camera and says 'Good morning, the coffee is ready', natural window light, handheld feel, she smiles at the end.

Kandinsky 6.0 Lite577s · $0.16

›What we asked for

Close-up of hands pouring hot water from a gooseneck kettle in slow circles into a pour-over coffee dripper, steam rising, shallow depth of field, warm cafe light.

Kandinsky 6.0 Pro1266s · $1.35
Kandinsky 6.0 Lite384s · $0.16
›What we asked for

A crowded Saturday farmers market seen from slightly above, shoppers with tote bags, a dog on a leash, a busker with a guitar, bunting swaying, late morning light, gentle camera drift.

Kandinsky 6.0 Pro1119s · $1.35
Kandinsky 6.0 Lite603s · $0.16
›What we asked for

A lighthouse on a rocky cliff in a storm, in the style of a Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print, waves crashing in flat colour with visible wood grain, animated like moving paper cutouts.

Pro keeps the dripper and drips coffee into it from a second dripper above. Lite opens on the dripper, then a fox with a newspaper bursts out of it.

Kandinsky 6.0 Pro1197s · $1.40
Kandinsky 6.0 Lite777s · $0.17
›What we asked for

The coffee dripper slowly fills as coffee drips through it, steam rising, the camera drifting gently around it, the dripper itself unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

How much more is Kandinsky 6.0 Pro?

On fal, $1.35 for a five-second 480p clip at Pro's default 50 steps against $0.16 at Lite's default 10, read October 22, 2026. Our nine clips cost $12.20 on Pro and $1.45 on Lite.

Why did Lite show a fox?

We do not know. Three Lite requests came back with clips unrelated to their prompts, although our saved receipts show the right prompt on each. Pro, run at the same time, followed every prompt.
