Kandinsky 6.0 Lite

Kandinsky 6.0 Lite is the 3-billion-parameter member of Kandinsky 6.0, the video family Kandinsky Lab open-sourced under the MIT licence on 6 October 2026. Both sizes make five-second clips with synchronized 44 kHz audio, lip-sync included, from text or a first frame. The base clip is 480p; a separate Kandinsky 6.0 super-resolution model, offered on fal as an upscale_factor setting, takes it to 1080p or four times the size. fal bills per clip by step count rather than per second: $0.16 at Lite's default 10 steps. We ran it at the native 480p without upscaling, so these clips are smaller than the 720p most of the roster returns.

Anvisha's take

Kandinsky 6.0 Lite is the cheapest open-weight model here, and the least reliable. Three of our nine clips show something we never asked for. The title card came back as a fox at a cafe table reading a newspaper and sipping tea, with no title at all; the market came back as a black jug on a turntable; and the image-to-video clip opens on our dripper, a paw reaches in, and the fox bursts out with its newspaper. Our receipts tie each request to its own prompt, so we cannot explain it from our side. The rest is decent for $0.16 a clip: the speaking woman talks straight to camera with a natural face, the harbour aerial is steady at golden hour, and the kettle pour is continuous, though the kettle is already full of coffee. The spill has no tip and two round blobs for ice, and the woodblock storm is a calm day with one wave. Waits ran from 3 to 13 minutes. Use it to run locally under MIT; on fal, check every clip. These are frame-based observations; audio was present on every clip but not scored by ear.

What we noticed running Kandinsky 6.0 Lite

  • •No title at all: the clip is a fox at a cafe table reading a newspaper and drinking tea, nothing to do with the prompt. See the animated title card clip.
  • •No market: a black jug with a handle and spout sits on a white turntable for five seconds. See the busy scene clip.
  • •Opens on our dripper, then a paw reaches in and a fox holding a newspaper bursts out of it; the rest is the fox at a cafe table. See the image to video clip.
  • •Talks straight to camera through the whole clip with a natural face and a small smile; a locked-off shot rather than handheld. See the person speaking clip.
  • •A hand lifts the full glass and pours rather than tipping it, leaving two round blobs on the table in place of three cubes. See the physics clip.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kandinsky 6.0 open source?

Yes. Kandinsky Lab released the code and weights for Kandinsky 6.0 Lite (3B) and Pro (29B), with distilled variants and a super-resolution model, under the MIT licence on 6 October 2026.

How much does Kandinsky 6.0 Lite cost on fal?

$0.16 for a five-second 480p clip at the default 10 steps, $0.17 from an image, read October 22, 2026. Fewer steps cost less ($0.08 at 4), and upscaling to 1080p raises it to $0.32.

Why did some Kandinsky 6.0 Lite clips show a fox?

We do not know. The title card and image-to-video requests each came back as a fox reading a newspaper, and the market request as a jug on a turntable. Our saved queue receipts show the right prompt on each request. We kept the clips as they came back, as we do with every failure.

How this page is made

Prices, limits and settings are read from the linked vendor and host pages on the dates shown. Every picture was generated by us through fal with the request shown under it, and the original files are kept unedited. A generation that failed is shown as a failure. Model and vendor names are used to identify the products; no vendor imagery appears on this page.
