Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite
Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite is the lower-priced tier of xAI's Grok Imagine Video 1.5, on fal as its own text-to-video and image-to-video endpoints. The endpoints take 1 to 15 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p in seven aspect ratios, priced per second of output; image-to-video adds a cent for the input image. fal's page does not mention sound, but every clip we got back carried an audio track.

Anvisha's take
Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite costs about a fifth of 1.5 at 720p on fal and behaves like it, good and bad. Nine five-second clips at 720p cost $1.36 in all, and each came back in 21 to 41 seconds. The title card is clean, both lines in tangerine on navy bars, with none of the stray letters 1.5 flashed on its first frame. The harbour push-in is steady, the market has the dog on its lead, the busker and the bunting, and the woodblock lighthouse holds the print look while the wave breaks. The misses are 1.5's misses: it burned 'Good morning, the coffee is ready.' into the frame as a subtitle again, the turntable dripper has a mug handle, and the spill ends with four ice cubes where we asked for three. For drafts with sound it is one of the cheapest starts on the roster, after HeyGen Video. These are frame-based observations; audio was present on every clip but not scored by ear.

What we noticed running Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite
- •Burned 'Good morning, the coffee is ready.' into the lower frame as a subtitle for the first half of the clip, as Grok Imagine Video 1.5 did. The prompt only quoted the line for her to say. See the person speaking clip.
- •Both lines spelled correctly from the first sampled frame, tangerine type on navy bars over a silhouetted crowd. See the animated title card clip.
- •The glass tips and the water pools, but four ice cubes sit on the table at the end where the prompt asked for three. See the physics clip.
- •The photographed dripper stays exactly as it was while the camera pushes in, but coffee pours in from above and fills it like a cup. See the image to video clip.
- •The dripper turns with a mug handle attached throughout; the shape otherwise holds. See the product turntable clip.
