Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit

Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit is the upgraded editing endpoint Ideogram launched on 29 October 2026. It runs on Ideogram 4.5 and adds a context window: you mark an area of up to 2048 by 2048 pixels of area inside an image of up to 8192 by 8192, Ideogram edits that window at its original pixels and puts it back, and everything outside it returns as you sent it, at the source's own size. Without a window, the same endpoint scales anything over 2048 by 2048 of area down to fit. The window is either fitted around a mask (auto) or given as pixel coordinates. The price is per image by quality tier and does not depend on the image size or the window.

At a glance

Price
$0.008, $0.03, $0.06 or $0.22 an image at very low, low, medium or high quality on Ideogram's API, read 29 October 2026. Size and window do not change the price; medium is the default.
Image size
Sources up to 8192 by 8192 pixels (67,108,864 pixels, 50 MB). With a window, the result comes back at the source's exact width and height.
Edit window
At least 256 pixels a side, at most 4,194,304 pixels of area (2048 by 2048, or 1024 by 4096), aspect between 1:6 and 6:1. Fitted around a mask with auto, or set by coordinates.
Unchanged pixels
On all three of our edits, every pixel away from the mask matched the source exactly once the source was converted to sRGB; the only other changes sat within about 40 to 80 pixels of the mask. The output is always sRGB.
Measured wait
42 and 55 seconds for the sign and the room on Ideogram's API on launch day. One run each, not a service guarantee.
Without a window
The default context_window=none edits the whole image and scales anything over 2048 by 2048 of area down to fit, so a large photo comes back smaller.

Anvisha's take

The sofa is the run that sells it. A 7680 by 5120 living room came back at the same size with the green silk turned into burgundy velvet, the navy and green pillows, the Greek key trim and the cream frame all left alone, and every pixel outside a box around the sofa identical to the source. The armchair removal is nearly as good: the chair and its reflection in the glass are gone, the travertine joints run on through the gap, and only a faint grey smudge on the floor gives it away. The neon sign is the weak one: the glow, colour and tube style match, but the script reads more like 'Opén Laite' than 'Open Late', with a stray stroke and a leftover tube from the old 'B'. My rule: use it for material, colour and removal jobs on big photos, where nothing else keeps the full resolution, and check any new lettering letter by letter. At $0.06 an edit at medium, there is little reason to downscale a photo to edit it any more.

Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit: real results on our 3 standard edit tests

Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit works on something you give it, so every model that does this job gets the same 3 edit tests: the same picture and the same instruction. Each result sits next to what went in. These are the pictures Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit returned, one try each, nothing re-rolled or retouched. Generated on . The 2 timed pictures took 42 to 55 seconds each and cost $0.18 in total.

What we noticed running Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit

  • •Burgundy velvet on the sofa, with the pillows, trim, frame and lighting kept. The output is 7680 by 5120 like the source, and every pixel outside a 2,060 by 1,537 box around the sofa is byte-identical to it. See the recolour one object in an 8k photo picture.
  • •The armchair and its reflection are gone and the floor joints and glass run on; the second chair is untouched. A soft grey smudge is left on the floor where the chair stood. Away from the mask the pixels match the source exactly once it is converted to sRGB; see the colour note below. See the remove an object picture.
  • •Same golden neon, glow and red panel, martini glasses kept, but the script reads closer to 'Opén Laite' than 'Open Late', and a tube from the old 'B' survives above the 'L'. Away from the mask the pixels match the source exactly once it is converted to sRGB; the only other changes sit within about 40 to 80 pixels of the mask. See the change a sign's text picture.
  • •The masks shown on this page are white where the edit goes, Voyager's convention. Ideogram's own API reads it the other way round: black over the area to change, white to keep.
  • •Price is per image, so an edit inside an 8K photo costs the same $0.06 at medium as one on a 1024 square.
  • •Colour: the output is always sRGB. Our sign and armchair photos were tagged Adobe RGB (1998) and came back converted to sRGB; against an sRGB copy of the source every pixel away from the edit matched exactly. Convert wide-gamut photos to sRGB first if the result must drop back into an Adobe RGB file.

Frequently asked questions

What is Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit?

Ideogram's region editor, launched on 29 October 2026. You mark an area of up to 2048 by 2048 pixels of area inside an image of up to 8192 by 8192, describe the change, and Ideogram edits that area at its original pixels and returns the full image at its own size.

How much does Ideogram Precise Edit cost?

Per image by quality on Ideogram's API, read on 29 October 2026: $0.008 at very low, $0.03 at low, $0.06 at medium (the default) and $0.22 at high. The image size and window do not change the price.

Does Precise Edit change the rest of the image?

Ideogram says no: every pixel outside the window comes back as sent. On our three edits that held exactly in sRGB, with changes only within about 40 to 80 pixels of the mask. A photo in another colour space (two of ours were tagged Adobe RGB) comes back converted to sRGB, so compare it against an sRGB copy of the source.

Do I need a mask?

With context_window=auto, yes: Ideogram fits the window around the mask. With coordinates, the mask is optional. Without either, the whole image is edited and a large one is scaled down.

Precise Edit or the Ideogram 4.5 edit on fal?

Precise Edit for photos larger than about 2K, or whenever the rest of the picture must stay as it is. The fal edit for smaller images, or when you want to run it on your own fal key.

How this page is made

Prices, limits and settings are read from the linked vendor and host pages on the dates shown. Every picture was generated by us through fal with the request shown under it, and the original files are kept unedited. A generation that failed is shown as a failure. Model and vendor names are used to identify the products; no vendor imagery appears on this page.
