Wan 3.0 Prime

Wan 3.0 Prime is the speed tier of Alibaba's Wan 3.0 video model, sold on fal next to standard Wan 3.0 with the same controls: 2 to 30 seconds (or let the model pick), 480p, 720p or 1080p, five aspect ratios plus adaptive, native audio on by default, prompt rewriting on by default and an optional thinking pass. fal describes it as accelerated generation for fast creative iteration. It costs 40% more per second than standard Wan 3.0. Like every Wan release after 2.2, it has no published weights.

A self-portrait of Wan 3.0 Prime, Alibaba's video model, as a single continuous shot: a paper lantern lifts from a night market in Hangzhou, the camera rising with it over the canal until the whole city of lights is below, a soft erhu line and crowd murmur under it.

Anvisha's take

Wan 3.0 Prime is Wan 3.0 in a hurry, and it lost almost nothing on the way. Eight five-second 720p clips came back in 84 to 103 seconds, where standard Wan 3.0 took 128 to 194, and the strengths are the same: the turntable dripper keeps its fluted shape in every sampled frame, the pour keeps both hands, the kettle, the paper filter and the carafe, the market is dense from slightly above with the busker and a golden retriever, and the storm is the truest woodblock print of this batch, flat colour and paper texture with the wave breaking over the cliff. The self-portrait lantern rose over the canal to the city, the same single move standard Wan made. So did the failure: fal's content checker refused the festival title card, as it did on Wan 3.0 and 2.7. The spill grows the ice cubes in number, and in image-to-video the dripper fills up like a cup. At $0.70 a clip against $0.50, I would use Prime only when the wait matters. These are frame-based observations; audio was present on every clip but not scored by ear.

Wan 3.0 Prime real output: the same 9 clips every model gets

Every video model on this site gets the same 9 clips, so you can compare like with like. These are the clips Wan 3.0 Prime returned, one try each, nothing re-rolled or retouched. Each tile shows one frame of the clip until you press play. Generated on . The 8 clips took 84 to 103 seconds each and cost $5.60 in total.

What we noticed running Wan 3.0 Prime

  • •Refused: fal's content checker returned a 422 on the festival title card, the third Wan endpoint to do so. See the animated title card clip.
  • •Flat colour, paper texture, rain lines and curling crests, with the wave breaking over the cliff: the closest to a woodblock print in this batch. See the specific art style clip.
  • •The glass tips, rolls and spills convincingly, but it starts with about four cubes and ends with five or six on the table. See the physics clip.
  • •Kept the photographed dripper exactly at 960 by 960, but coffee rises inside it like a cup, with steam and no pour. See the image to video clip.
  • •The fluted dripper keeps its shape in every sampled frame; the turn itself is slight. See the product turntable clip.

What Wan 3.0 Prime will not make

Wan's hosted models run behind fal's safety checker, on by default and only switchable off with account authorisation. In our run it refused the festival title card with a 422 content-policy error, as it did on standard Wan 3.0 and Wan 2.7; no other vendor's checker objected to that prompt.
