Voyager vs Krea

Krea is a web suite for AI images and video, known for real-time generation, its own Krea models, upscaling and a node canvas. Voyager is a desktop AI agent that generates with many of the same models, then finishes the work in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Blender or its own design, video and music editors, as an editable project.

Choose Voyager if

  • The work has to end up cut, titled, scored and finished, not just generated.
  • You want the agent working in your own apps, on projects you can keep editing.
  • You want each generation priced from a published rate, or on keys you already pay for.

Choose Krea if

  • You explore a look by drawing or typing and watching the image change live.
  • You want Krea’s own models, LoRA training or upscaling far past 4K.
  • You want to generate in a browser or on an iPhone, with nothing to install.

What each one is

A real-time generation suite, or an agent on your computer.

What is Voyager?

Voyager is a desktop app for macOS, with Windows and Linux in alpha. Its agent, or your own Claude Code or Codex, generates with cloud models when a step needs one, then carries on in the software where the project lives, including Voyager’s own Design, Video and DAW editors, so the result stays a layered, editable project.

What is Krea?

Krea is a web suite with an iOS app for generating and editing images and video. It makes its own models, Krea 1 and Krea 2, hosts about 70 more, and adds real-time generation as you type or draw, an Enhancer that upscales up to 22K, regional edits, LoRA training, 3D, a node canvas called Nodes and, since September 2026, Krea Agent.

Finished work

It finishes the piece, not just the frames.

Krea is excellent at the front of a project: finding a look in real time, generating with dozens of models, upscaling and fixing regions. Its work leaves as images, clips and meshes. Cutting those into a sequence, adding type and scoring it happens somewhere else.

Voyager’s agent keeps going. It lays the shots on a timeline in Premiere Pro, Resolve or Voyager Video, sets type and motion in After Effects or Voyager Design, and scores and mixes in Voyager DAW or Ableton Live. The result is a project you can open and change, not a folder of renders.

On Krea

Krea’s Nodes chains models and edits into a reusable workflow, and its App Builder shares one as a simple app by link or embed. That repeats a generation recipe; it is not a timeline. (Krea Nodes, read )

Your apps

It works the app, not just a panel inside it.

Voyager’s agent operates the creative software on your computer, with your own licences: it builds layers in Photoshop, cuts in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, animates in After Effects and lays out scenes in Blender. The still lands in your layered file and the shot on your timeline, ready for you or a colleague to take over.

If you don’t own those apps, Voyager’s own Design, Video and DAW editors come with it, free, and export PSD, SVG, Lottie, OTIO, FCPXML, stems and MIDI so the work can move to them later.

  • Illustrator
  • After Effects
  • Premiere Pro
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Final Cut Pro
  • Blender
  • Unity
  • Ableton Live
  • + many more
  • Voyager Design

Vector, raster and paint layers, layout, decks with PPTX, and motion graphics with keyframes. Exports PNG, SVG, PDF, PSD, Lottie and ProRes 4444 with alpha.

  • Voyager Video

Timeline, multicam, colour and keys. Hands off to Resolve and Premiere as OTIO, FCPXML or EDL, and delivers H.264, HEVC, ProRes and DNxHR.

  • Voyager DAW

Arranging, instruments, VST3 plug-ins, mixing and mastering to loudness targets, stems and MIDI export, and scoring to picture: cues from a video’s cuts and ducking under voice-over.

You bring your own licences. Live control of the Adobe apps runs on macOS today. Voyager DAW does most of what you would do in Ableton Live or Logic Pro, from arranging and recording to mixing and mastering, and the rest is on the way. It doesn’t have sampled orchestral instruments yet. Trademarks belong to their owners; Voyager isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them.

On Krea

Krea’s plugins add its generation to Photoshop and After Effects, and its MCP server lets Claude Code, Codex and Cursor generate on your Krea account. The plugins bring Krea into the app; Voyager’s agent works the app itself. (Krea plugins, read ; Krea MCP, read )

Your accounts

Same models, on the accounts you already pay for.

Krea’s own models, Krea 1 and Krea 2, and its real-time generation are Krea’s alone. For the many third-party models both offer, a model is the same model on either product. What Voyager adds is choice of who pays: a Voyager plan, your own fal, Google or ElevenLabs keys, or a Higgsfield plan through Sign in with Higgsfield, in the order you set. Each generation records which account paid for it.

The agent is your choice too: Voyager’s own, or Claude Code or Codex on the Claude or ChatGPT subscription you already have, at no charge from Voyager.

Only on Krea

Krea 1 and Krea 2, its own image models; Krea 2 Raw and Turbo have open weights. Real-time generation from text, drawing or a webcam. (Krea models, read ; Krea changelog, read ; What is Krea, read )

Pricing

Every rate published, at what the provider charges.

How Voyager charges

A credit is 1¢ of what the model’s provider charges, with no markup on any plan; where Voyager gets a lower rate, so do you.

Every model’s rate is published per image, second or minute, so a generation’s cost is known before you run it.

With your own model keys and your own Claude or ChatGPT, the app costs nothing.

How Krea charges

Krea charges compute units and lists how many generations of each model a plan buys, with the settings, rather than a cost per generation. (Krea pricing, read )

Max adds unlimited relaxed generations on Krea’s own image models; Business and Enterprise add unlimited Krea 2 images. (Krea pricing, read )

Plan units do not roll over on Pro or Max. Unit packs last 90 days and are priced after sign-in. The API is billed separately, per generation. (Krea pricing, read ; Krea API pricing, read )

Every Voyager rate is on the pricing page.

Where Krea wins

When Krea is the better pick.

  • Real-time generation

The image updates as you type or draw, and a webcam can be the input. For finding a look fast, nothing in Voyager works that way. (What is Krea, read )

  • Its own models

Krea 2 is Krea’s own, with open-weight versions, and Max and Business plans include unlimited or relaxed generations with Krea’s models. (Krea changelog, read ; Krea pricing, read )

  • Upscaling and training

The Enhancer upscales images up to 22K, and LoRA training on paid plans teaches a model your subject or style. (What is Krea, read ; Krea pricing, read )

  • Nothing to install

Krea runs in a browser and on iPhone and iPad today. Voyager is a desktop app, with mobile apps still to come. (Krea for iOS, read )

FAQ

Questions, answered.

More about Voyager in the FAQ and on the pricing page.

How we checked

Krea’s plans, models and features were read on 8 October 2026 from krea.ai and its docs, signed out, in the US. Krea lists generations per plan rather than a price per generation, and its table and plan cards disagree in places, so this page makes no per-generation price comparison. Each Krea claim links its source. Voyager’s facts come from its published rates and the desktop app. We did not compare output quality.

What is the difference between Voyager and Krea?

Krea is a web suite for generating and editing AI images and video, with real-time generation, its own Krea models, upscaling and a node canvas. Voyager is a desktop agent that uses many of the same third-party models and also works in the creative apps on your computer and in its own design, video and music editors, so the result stays an editable project. (What is Krea, read )

Is Voyager cheaper than Krea?

Not as a rule. Krea lists generations per plan rather than a price per generation, and on the figures that can be worked out from them, Krea is about as cheap as Voyager or cheaper on popular image models. Voyager publishes each model’s rate at what the provider charges, with no markup, and is free with your own keys. (Krea pricing, read )

Does Krea work in Photoshop?

Yes. Krea’s plugins add its generation to Photoshop and After Effects. Voyager’s agent works in Photoshop itself, building and editing layers, and in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Blender and others. (Krea plugins, read )

Can I use Krea’s own models in Voyager?

No. Krea 1, Krea 2 and real-time generation are on Krea. Voyager’s agent can take images you made in Krea into Photoshop, a layout or a video edit. (Krea models, read )

Can I use Claude Code or Codex with either?

Yes, in different ways. Krea’s MCP server lets Claude Code, Codex and Cursor generate on your Krea account. Voyager lets Claude Code or Codex be the agent itself, on your own subscription, at no charge from Voyager. (Krea MCP, read )

Is Krea free?

Krea’s free plan gives 100 compute units a day with its own and real-time models, without a commercial licence. Voyager is free to download and use with your own agent and model keys. (Krea pricing, read )

Do I have to install Voyager?

Yes. Voyager is a free desktop app for macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon, with Windows 11 and Linux in alpha and mobile apps coming soon. Krea runs in a browser and on iPhone and iPad.
